Tears

Tears of happiness,
tears of pain.
Tears of anger,
tears of a mother.

The day I held my newborn
babies in my arms,
and realized they were really mine,
I cried tears of happiness.

The day my husband died
I cried tears of pain and sadness.
The betrayal of a good friend
made me cry tears of anger.

Those were tears flowing
for one moment.
But the tears of a mother
are never ending stories.

Seeing your child drop out of school,
without knowing how to help him.
Feeling your child isn’t happy
and being unable to reach him.

Those are tears
of a mother in despair.
A mother who feels guilty,
because she knows
she didn’t do her job right.
